1947 Clubette/Centuryette Scholarship

This scholarship requires a DHS student to be a member of the local Clubette/Centuryette organization.

Accuplan Benefit Plan Scholarship

Accuplan Benefits Services. We are happy to announce that we will be providing a $2,000 scholarship to a hard-working student! The scholarship is intended to help students to be successful in school and raise awareness to the rising generation about the importance of retirement.
Applicants must apply by May 31, 2018, in order to be considered for the scholarship. The application process includes making a 30-second video explaining what they would like to do in the future once they have retired, and what are some things that they can be doing now and in the future to be ready for retirement.

Amarillo Area Foundation Scholarship
Amarillo Area Foundation offers scholarships based on financial need to students around the panhandle of Texas.  Click on the link above and register as a Scholarship Applicant.  The actual scholarship application opens early November 2017.

Amarillo College Foundation Scholarship  

This Scholarship is for students that are planning on attending Amarillo College.  If a DHS student wishes to remain QUEST eligible, they must complete and submit this scholarship.  Scholarships open early November 2018.  When you click on the link above, it will ask for your name, birthdate, and AC student ID number.

Each year AWN awards scholarships to deserving students from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.  A “student” is not limited to a recent high school graduate.  A student may also be any woman who is entering college for the first time or perhaps returning to finish a degree or obtain an advanced degree.  Scholarships are awarded annually for use the following school year (fall and spring semesters).  The number and amount of scholarships are based on available funds.

The Nancy Sample Garms Scholarship was established in 1995 by her family to honor her memory after her untimely death in 1994. Nancy was a longtime civic leader and court master for the Ninth Administrative Judicial Region of Texas. She had been a teacher and counselor with the Amarillo Independent School District and Amarillo College before graduating from Texas Tech School of Law. She was an adjunct professor at West Texas A&M University and wrote guest columns for the Globe-Times.

A patchwork of scholarships helped her complete her education. For that reason, this scholarship is for women who would benefit from or have participated in the AWN Mentor Program. Women who are single parents and married women who are attempting to complete their education will be given special consideration.

  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA while in college
  • Exhibit community involvement, and academic quality
  • Major in field of choice at college/university of choice

This is a one-time scholarship of $750. 

Applications for both scholarships must be received by April 1 each year.


Amarillo Texas A&M Club Scholarship

1. Seniors, transfer students and current Texas A&M students are eligible.

2. All seniors must be attending a school in Armstrong, Carson, Castro, Deaf Smith, Hartley, Hutchinson, Moore, Oldham, Potter, Randall or Swisher County.

3. All students must be able to show acceptance to Texas A&M.

4. All current Amarillo Texas A&M Club Scholarship recipients must reapply to compete for the scholarship.

Association for Compensatory Educators of Texas Scholarship

The Association offers twenty $1000 scholarships across the state to students who have, at some time in their school career, been enrolled in a compensatory education program. Compensatory Education includes programs such as Title I, Bilingual/ ESL, State Compensatory Education (SCE), Migrant and Homeless.  The top scoring applicant in the state will also receive the Wade and Sandy Burroughs Scholarship in the amount of $500.

Applications must be post-marked no later than Friday, February 9, 2018.  No portion or signature may be omitted.  Applications must be submitted in one envelope as one complete document to:

Benton Ray Memorial

This scholarship is intended for any athlete, boy or girl may apply. Student must list sport involvement on the application.

Burke Bell Memorial Scholarship

The applicant must list extracurricular activities as well as attach a transcript. The applicant must be ready to conquer the world and have an 80 or above grade point average.

Caprock Peace Officers' Association Scholarship

The CPOA considers community, education and fellowship to be a few of the elements we have build our foundation upon.  Our purpose is to provide members with access to the highest quality leadership development, training and Continuing Law Enforcement Education opportunities.  The CPOA Scholarship fund will continue to award college scholarships to deserving applicants wishing to further their education.  Scholarships will be awarded to : graduating high school seniors and current college students who will be attending a college, university, or vocational school in the fall of 2019.

CHS Scholars Program

In 2017, CHS and the CHS Foundation will fund nearly 200 scholarships to students enrolled in an agricultural-related program at partnering two- and four-year colleges and universities throughout the United States. Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $2,000.
Student eligibility
A) Students must be entering their sophmore, junior or senior in an agriculture-related degree program.
B) Students pursuing a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) field of study with an interest in agriculture, cooperatives or rural America will be considered.

City of Cactus/ Cactus Elementary Scholarship

The City of Cactus Mayor, Council and City Manager has each donated their salary to promote the higher education of Cactus Elementary graduates.  The applicant must have completed at least three years at Cactyus Elementary School and be a Dumas High School Graduate that plans to continue his or her education at a college or vocational instituition.  The scholarship is in the amount of $2500.

Don't Mess with Texas Scholarship Contest

The 2016 Don’t Mess with TExas Scholarship Contest is now open and offers three scholarships (2-$2000, 1-$6000).  This contest recognizes the achievements of high school seniors who have taken a leadership role to prevent litter in their school or community, and promote awareness of the Don’t Mess with Texas initiative.  You must plan on attending a2 or 4 year Texas college or university next year.

Dumas Education Foundation Scholarship

The following scholarship may be filled out by any student that meets the guidelines presented by each individual scholarship.  Fill out the scholarship online through the link below.  Check which scholarships you are applying for, fill in blanks provided, and print a copy of your application.  You will then take the application to the DHS QUEST Office.

Dumas Masonic Lodge is awarding four scholarships in Moore, Dallam and Sherman Counties to a high school graduate attending a college, trade school, or technical school in the following fall semester.

Federation of Insurance Women of Texas Scholarship

The Federation of Insurance Women of Texas offers a two thousand dollar scholarship to a current high school senior or a college student. The money is distributed $1000 in the fall of 2018 and $1000 in the spring of 2019.  This scholarship is regional and will be offered to students in the El Paso, Lubbock, Abilene and North Texas areas.  The college or university that you attend must be in the state of Texas.

Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes
SELECTION CRITERIA Our judges use the following criteria in choosing winners: 
1. Winners must have organized and led an extraordinary service activity which has clearly benefited other people or the planet we share. a. The service activity must have been initiated and motivated primarily by the winner himself or herself. b. The service activity cannot have been done solely to complete an assignment for school or work. 
2. Winners must have: a. demonstrated positive spirit, courage, intelligence, generosity, and high moral purpose. b. shown initiative, tenacity, and unselfishness in pursuit of their goals. c. accomplished something with inspirational value—something that could inspire others to make a difference. d. done more than survive a difficult personal challenge. Their heroism must have made an impact on the world beyond themselves.
 3. Winners may or may not have received recognition for their heroic work. Fame itself shall not have been a motivating factor.

Golden Spread Electric Cooperative Scholarship

Members of the Golden Spread Electric Cooperative and their spouses and children are eligible for this yearly scholarship.

Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship

Each year, the Monsanto Fund sponsors scholarships for youth interested in business, communications, education, engineering, science and technology.  This scholarship is administered through the Future Farmers of America.  However, you FFA membership is NOT required.

Applicant must be a Texas resident that is a high school senior or returning college student majoring in an agriculture related field.

Hagan Scholarship Foundation Scholarship 

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide, need based, merit scholarship for high achieving students who will require financial assistance in order to attend college.  These students will graduate from a public high school located in a county in the United States having fewer than 50,000 residents.  Three hundred fifty scholarships can be awarded each year.

Harwell and Cook Orthodontics Scholarship

Dr.'s Harwell and Cook. offer one $1,000 and two $500 scholarships to three high school seniors who achieve both in and out of the classroom. A committee of people from both inside and outside of the office will evaluate each scholarship form submitted. You do not need to be a patient in our office in order to qualify for these scholarships. All scholarship applications are due by March 31st and need to be dropped off or mailed to:

H&H Federal Credit Union - Frank Lewis Memorial Scholarship

An application that requires a student to be a graduating senior from Moore County and have a savings account with H&H FCU in their name by the due date of the application. The application can be completed over the phone. 1(one) Dumas High School student will receive this scholarship if they complete the scholarship requirements.  Fill out the application and mail to the Credit Union.

Healthcare Leaders Scholarship

This scholarship award is sponsored by and offered to deserving students accepted or enrolled in medical or healthcare-related programs.  To be eligible for the $1000 award, students must have a GPA of 3.0 or above, be pursuing a degree related to healthcare, and submit a 600-1000 word essay.

Helium Litigation Scholarship

The Helium Litigation Scholarship offers scholarships to incoming college freshman for Southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.  The student must plan to pursue a course of study in an area relating to agriculture, the environment, or energy.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholarship

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to Latino students, as well as related support services. HSF seeks to give students all the tools they need to apply to college, do well in their course work, graduate, enter a profession, excel, help lead our nation going forward, and mentor the generations to come.  Scholarships are based on need and awards range from $500 to $5000.  Application will open January 2019.

J.E. Pietsch Memorial Scholarship

This is a $1,500.00 scholarship for students who are dependent upon any active duty or honorably discharged veteran are eligible for this scholarship.  This doesn’t necessarily mean a parent.  It does require a copy of some form of identification for the veteran with the form.

Los Barrios de Amarillo Scholarship

This scholarship is open to any student who has attended a Step Up to Success program in either middle school or high school.  There is NO restriction on residency or citizenship.

Mattress Help Scholarship

We’re offering a $1,000 scholarship every year to help increase sleep health awareness and offset the costs of higher education. This scholarship is available to eligible HS seniors, current college students, and graduate students.

Moore County A&M Club Scholarship

Collier and Bobby Phillips Memorial Scholarship

Open to any senior planning to attend Texas A&M University and graduating from a Moore County school. 

Each year the Moore County A&M Club Foundation presents the Collier and Bobby Phillips Memorial Scholarship to outstanding students graduating from Moore County high schools. This scholarship is for one year and is currently $1,000 per year. $500 is awarded to the recipient each semester of their first year. Primary considerations for the awards include financial hardships, academic achievement, involvement in extracurricular activities (excluding athletics), reasons (excluding athletics) for wanting to attend Texas A&M University and financial need.

Moore County Farm Bureau Scholarship

The Moore County Farm Bureau will award one or more $ 1,000.00 scholarships to students graduating from high school in Spring 2016 and entering college or an approved Technical/Trade school in Fall 2018 whose parent(s) or grandparent(s) have been members of Moore County Farm Bureau since at least March 15, 2016.

This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the information requested on this application including but not limited to high school grades/GPA, demonstration of leadership potential through extracurricular activities and work experience, and family financial need.

Moore County Texas Tech Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant is required to provide a letter of acceptance to Texas Tech and write a paragraph discussing your high school experience. A second paragraph explaining the reason you chose Texas Tech as well as other topics is required.

NAFEPA Scholarship Program

The National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators offers this scholarship program to financially support post-secondary education for qualifying seniors or high school graduates attending their first year of college.   Two scholarships are for students pursuing a degree in Education.  The other two scholarships may be awarded to applications pursuing a degree in Education or any other field.  To be eligible, candidates must qualify for Compensatory Education  Programs through their school district.

The Novotny/Osborne Scholarship

This scholarship is open to Dumas High School Seniors that are attending a four year university.  The scholarship is worth over $20,000 over four years.  Applicants may receive additional scholarships as long as those scholarships are not based on athletic ability and they do not total more than $10000.  Must show proof of applying for FAFSA.  Applicants must submit paper work each semester to ensure the grade average of 2.5 is met along with the minimum course load.

Pheasant Trails LGA Scholarship

 The Pheasant Trail Ladies' Golf Association awards a scholarship to a Moore County resident that plays golf in Moore County that is attending an institution of higher education.  High school seniors or college students are both eligible.

Rita Blanca Electric Scholarship

Students must be enrolled on a full time basis to be eligible to apply

12 credit hours as an undergraduate, 6 credit hours as a graduate

Students must have a minimum 2.50 grade point average to be eligible to apply.

Scholarships are available for attendance at accredited state supported universities, private universities, junior colleges, or vocational schools.

Seven scholarships will be awarded for $2,000 each, payable at $1,000 per semester

After completion of first semester, student must present to Opportunity Plan, Inc. proof of maintaining a minimum 2.50 GPA to receive the additional $1,000

RBEC will give one scholarship to a person at each school.

Seaboard Foods Scholarship
 Each year Seaboard Foods offers a $1000 scholarship to a high school seniors.  Scholarships are awarded for academics, community and school involvement.

Shamrock Federal Credit Union Scholarship

Applicant must be a member of Shamrock FCU and a full time student taking at least 12 hours or enrolled for at least 12 hours of college.

SP Scholarship

The SP College Scholarship program was created to help students win scholarships without the hassle of filling out paper applications and writing dozens of essays.

To be eligible for the Scholarship you must be:
A) At least 13 years old and enrolled or will enroll in a college or university in the US.
B A legal resident of the U.S. or Puerto Rico.

Sybil B. Harrington Scholarship

Two applications are available for students. One application is for students planning to attend Amarillo College and the other is for students planning to attend a Texas four-year university. 


Take Care of Texas Video Contrest

Waste Management sponsors this contest that provides scholarships up to $2500.  It’s a fun way to learn about the environment and shre that knowledge3 with others.  To enter, participants create a 30-second video that shows postitive ways to Take Care of Texas like how to keep our air clean, keep our water clean, conserve water, save energy or reduce waste.  There are a total if six winners from all over the state.

Texas Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Society Memorial Foundation Asthma Scholarship
Any high school senior in Texas that suffers from asthma and plans to attend college after high school may apply.

 This association sponsors a $500 per semester (up to 8 semesters) for university students in the agriculture field.

Texas Department of Transportation Scholarships

The Texas Department of Transportation provides tuition assistance to eligible economically disadvantage students majoring in civil engineering, computer science, management information systems or computer information systems.  Student must be a Texas resident attending or planning to enroll in a four-year Texas public college or university.

Texas Engineering Foundation Scholarship
Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, a High School Senior with at least a 3.0 GPA, and have school a 29 in math and 25 in English on the ACT.  He/she must also enroll in an ABET accredited engineering program.

Texas Nursery & Landscape Association Education and Research Foundation Scholarship

Applicant must be planning on studying programs related to the nursery and landscape industry.  The Foundation Trustees have stressed the importance of having good personal references to accompany the scholarship application form.

Texas Telephone Association Foundation Scholarship

Any student who is graduating from a Texas High School in the Spring 2017 who is a U.S. citizen, has a 3.0 GPA or higher and is planning on attending a Texas college or university in Fall 2017 is eligible to apply.
