As a graduate of DHS, Bruce Smith knew what he was “getting into” when he came home to teach Ag Science. In his 40 years of teaching at DHS, his focus was on his students and helping them become better people. He mentored his students, encouraging them when they were on the right track and refocusing them when they were not. While he was making memories with his students, his teaching and prodding led to student success all over Texas. He led by example as he took on roles of leadership in the Texas FFA organization and encouraged his students to be leaders as well. Through his time at DHS, the Ag Science program became a model program, and its fame spread throughout Texas. He left a lasting footprint at DHS.
