Vetting our Employees
Every certified and non-certified employee, student teacher and substitute teacher of Dumas ISD is subject to a rigorous and comprehensive criminal history vetting process. This review is mandated by state law and District policy. The criminal history review process involves a wide-ranging search in both state and national criminal history databases to ensure that any criminal history of a potential employee is identified.
State law also prohibits a person from working at a district if the person has been convicted of, or placed on deferred adjudication community supervision for, certain “disqualifying” offenses. All Dumas ISD employees have undergone this extensive criminal history review, and none of the employees working for Dumas ISD are prohibited from employment due to a disqualifying offense.
In addition to the state-mandated vetting process, Dumas ISD has a robust recruitment procedure ensuring all employees are both the most qualified candidate for their position and are of sound moral character to serve the students of Dumas ISD.
