Next week, our students will be taking part in Start with Hello Week at the same time as Homecoming Spirit Week. While Spirit Week has fun dress-up days, Start with Hello Week encourages simple actions that build connection, kindness, and belonging. 💛
Each day, students will have a goal such as:
✅ Saying hello in different languages
✅ Thanking someone who has stood up for them
✅ Sharing compliments to make others smile
✅ Thanking a trusted adult
These small acts can make a big difference in helping every student feel welcome and included. 💬👋
We’re excited to see our students spreading kindness and connection all week long!

6th Grade Band Parents,
We will have one last opportunity to purchase an instrument or supplies for band here in Dumas on Monday, August 18 from 4-6 in the Intermediate School cafeteria. During this time, representatives from Tarpley’s and Music and Arts in Amarillo will be at the Cafeteria to assist your children with getting their instruments and supplies for band class. This will be your last opportunity to acquire an instrument or supplies for your student.
Parents will not have to pay the full price of an instrument immediately: both music companies utilize a rent-to-own program to reduce up-front cost of purchasing an instrument.
If your child is playing Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, Euphonium, or Tuba, they already have a school instrument free of charge. However, they will still need to attend the drive to purchase mouthpieces, reeds, books, and any other needed materials for band if they do not have them yet.
If needed the band can provide school-owned instruments with the exception of the saxophone and percussion. If your student is playing on a school instrument we still need you to attend the drive to pick up the book we will be using as well as mouthpieces/reeds/etc.
The drive will go from 4-6pm, but it is a come-and-go event; parents and students will not need to remain for the entire duration of the drive.
There will be translators for Spanish speaking families.
If there are any other questions or concerns, please contact me at tyler.seward@dumasisd.org
