See you Monday March 23

Parents and guardians of the Dumas Intermediate Choir:
We are quickly approaching our biggest event of the year, the Dumas Music Festival. This event is hosted by our own Dumas High School to showcase great singing in a competitive environment. We have been hard at work preparing our songs for the contest, and honing our skills at reading music. Here is what you need to know about the festival:
Dumas Music Festival is on Saturday, April 18th at Dumas High School. Students must be checked in by no later than 9:25 AM in the Band Hall. ALL STUDENTS in 6th Grade Choir are required to attend the event for a major grade.
Students must wear their gray Choir t-shirts, nice jeans, and athletic shoes. No crocs, flipflops, or slip-on shoes of any kind are allowed as concert attire.
The choir will perform in the Auditorium at 10:00 AM. Parents are more than welcome to come listen. Since this event is judged by a panel of professionals, please do not come in late or allow noisy young children to disrupt the hard work your children have put in over the past several months.
Once the students have finished with the Concert and Sight Reading portions of the contest, they will be led out of the school through the front doors. At that point, they are free to stay and listen to other schools perform or to leave with you for the day.
If any student needs a ride from Cactus, there will be a bus that leaves from the Old Cactus Elementary School at 9:00 AM. It will return after the Junior High has finished their part in the festival.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach out to me by email at kip.white@dumasisd.org. I hope to see all of you come to see and hear the hard work your children have done this year! Have a relaxing Spring Break.
Yours in Song,
Mr. White
Atentamente,
Sr. White

Congratulations to Dumas ISD Ag students for their success at the Fort Wort, San Angelo, and San Antonio stock shows!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Your 5th grade students have the exciting opportunity to choose from a few electives for their 6th grade year. They must choose one from either P.E. or Pre-athletics, and one from either Band or Choir. Pre Athletics will have a greater emphasis on preparing students for Junior High athletics than a typical P.E. class. They will focus on learning fundamentals in Football, Volleyball, Basketball and Track. Band and Choir will both offer a variety of musical opportunities that can help your student achieve success outside the regular classroom. Additionally, there is an Honor Choir that meets at 7:30 before school. Anyone, regardless of if they are in Band or Choir, can audition to be in this group. Please be aware that whatever classes your student chooses, they are committing to that class for their entire 6th grade year. If you are interested in receiving more information, we will have an optional parent meeting on Wednesday March 11 at 4:00, or you can reach out to us by email.
