ATTENTION 5th grade Parents,
We will be having our Instrument Drive on Thursday, May 14 from 4:30-6:30 in the Intermediate School Gym. During this time, representatives from Tarpley’s and Music and Arts in Amarillo will be at the Cafeteria to assist your children with getting their instruments and supplies for band class. You can also fill out paperwork to request a school instrument. School instruments are first come, first serve.
Parents will not have to pay the full price of an instrument immediately: both music companies utilize a rent-to-own program to reduce up-front cost of purchasing an instrument.
If your child is playing Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, Euphonium, or Tuba, they already have a school instrument free of charge. However, they will still need to attend the drive to purchase mouthpieces, reeds, books, and any other needed materials for band.
If needed the band can provide school-owned instruments with the exception of the saxophone and percussion. If your student is playing on a school instrument we still need you to attend the drive to pick up the other supplies we will be using such as mouthpieces/reeds/etc.
The drive will go from 4:30-6:30pm, but it is a come-and-go event; parents and students will not need to remain for the entire duration of the drive.
There will be translators for Spanish speaking families.
If there are any other questions or concerns, please contact me at tyler.seward@dumasisd.org

ATTENTION ALL 6th grade BAND Parents,
This is a reminder for the after school practice from 4:00-4:45 on Thursday, and the concert for parents at 4:15 on Friday. There will be a cactus bus for both events if needed and all 6th grade band students are required to be there. They need to wear their band shirt for the concert on Friday.
Also, if you told me about missing orders from the fundraiser, they are in and can be picked up today after school.
Thank you,
Tyler Seward

DUMAS MUSIC FESTIVAL
Parents and guardians of the Dumas Intermediate Choir:
This is the final letter I am sending about our Choir event THIS SATURDAY. Here is what you need to know about the Dumas Music Festival:
1) Dumas Music Festival is on Saturday, April 18th at Dumas High School. Students must be checked in by no later than 9:25 AM in the Band Hall. ALL STUDENTS in 6th Grade Choir are required to attend the event for a major grade.
2) Students must wear their gray Choir t-shirts, nice jeans, and athletic shoes. No crocs, flipflops, or slip-on shoes of any kind are allowed as concert attire.
3) The choir will perform in the Auditorium at 10:00 AM. Parents are more than welcome to come listen. Since this event is judged by a panel of professionals, please do not come in late or allow noisy young children to disrupt the hard work your children have put in over the past several months.
4) Once the students have finished with the Concert and Sight Reading portions of the contest, they will be led out of the school through the front doors. At that point, they are free to stay and listen to other schools perform or to leave with you for the day.
5) If any student needs a ride from Cactus, there will be a bus that leaves from the Old Cactus Elementary School at 8:00 AM. It will return after the Junior High has finished their part in the festival.
6) IMPORTANT: IF YOUR CHILD CANNOT ATTEND, I must have it in writing before Saturday. Illness or family emergencies are excused absences. Other conflicts, like being out of town for scheduled events, will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis..
If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach out to me by email at kip.white@dumasisd.org. I hope to see all of you come to see and hear the hard work your children have done this year! Have a relaxing Spring Break.
Yours in Song,
Mr. White
Atentamente,
Sr. White
